Torn
These works start as drawings on mylar done with charcoal and ink. Then, I expose the plate directly from the image using a light-sensitive printmaking process. The solar plates are then printed in various versions using different inking techniques onto thin, transparent papers. My process allows me to take fragments of these prints and collage them together, building layers that connect and form a self-starting narrative for both the viewer and myself. My goal is for the observer to project themselves on these dark and shadowy figures as their subconscious creates a unique, personal conversation in response to the pieces; to allow the viewer to interact with these abstract narratives and dissect their own distinctive meaning.
